Squeezebox and the Enameller was about carefully transforming a piece of Brunswick’s industrial history into a contemporary, high-performing residential development, while still respecting the character that made the original building so significant.
A key part of the approach was retaining the original brick shell. This was a deliberate decision to preserve the history of the building and acknowledge Brunswick’s past as a heavily industrial part of Melbourne.
The concertina system along the western façade was designed as both a visual feature and a practical solution, allowing natural light and ventilation while still maintaining privacy.
Each residence includes private outdoor space, covered parking, dedicated study areas, and a number of tailored features that respond to the needs of each buyer.
Much of the original steel truss roof and hardwood structure was retained and reused, helping to complement the industrial character of the interiors.
The result is a project that balances heritage retention with contemporary construction and design.
